Direct Marketing Policy

All academic journals published by faculties, postgraduate programs, research centers, and institutions under Universitas Islam Darussalam (UID) Ciamis, West Java, Indonesia are committed to ethical, transparent, and non-intrusive dissemination of scholarly knowledge. We recognize the importance of promoting published research and announcing Calls for Papers (CFP) while maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity.

This policy defines the standards for all direct marketing, promotional activities, and communication strategies conducted by UID Ciamis journals.

1. Core Principles of Marketing and Promotion

In alignment with the COPE Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing:

  • Targeted and Relevant: Any direct marketing activities—including manuscript solicitations, Calls for Papers (CFP), and promotional announcements—must be appropriate, well-targeted, and unobtrusive.

  • Accuracy and Truthfulness: All information provided to prospective authors, reviewers, and readers regarding the journal's scope, indexing status, editorial board members, peer review timelines, publication metrics, and Article Processing Charges (APCs) must be truthful, verified, and not misleading.

  • Protection Against Malpractice: UID Ciamis strictly prohibits aggressive solicitation tactics, predatory marketing practices, deceptive metrics, or any promotional activities that could compromise the reputation of the academic community.

2. Anti-Spam and Communication Ethics

To ensure communications do not cause inconvenience or harm to other parties:

  • No Unsolicited Bulk Emailing (Anti-Spam): The editorial offices of UID Ciamis journals will never engage in spamming, mass indiscriminate email blasts, or the unauthorized harvesting of email addresses from external databases or websites.

  • Opt-In and Consent: Direct email notifications (such as tables of contents and special issue announcements) are primarily sent to users registered within our OJS systems who have willingly agreed to receive updates.

  • Opt-Out / Unsubscribe Mechanism: Every direct promotional message or newsletter sent by the journals includes a clear, accessible, and automated mechanism allowing recipients to easily unsubscribe or update their communication preferences at any time.

3. Integrity of Editorial Information and Solicitations

When inviting scholars to submit manuscripts or organize special issues:

  • Clear Disclosures: Invitations explicitly outline the journal’s focus and scope, peer review policies, copyright and licensing terms (CC BY-SA 4.0), and the exact fee policy (including diamond open-access/free-of-charge provisions where applicable).

  • Editorial Independence: Direct marketing activities and promotional campaigns are managed entirely separate from editorial decision-making. Receiving a promotional invitation or Call for Papers guarantees neither manuscript acceptance nor expedited review; all submissions undergo standard double-blind peer review.
