Archiving Policy

All academic journals published by institutions under Universitas Islam Darussalam (UID) Ciamis, West Java, Indonesia are dedicated to the permanent preservation of the scholarly record. We implement comprehensive digital archiving strategies to guarantee perpetual, uninterrupted Open Access to all published articles for global researchers, academic communities, and future generations.

1. Digital Preservation Networks (PKP PN & LOCKSS Program)

To ensure long-term decentralized preservation and fail-safe accessibility of published content, our journals utilize the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) powered by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP).

  • PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): Our Open Journal Systems (OJS) instances are fully integrated with the PKP PN. The PKP PN provides free, automated digital preservation for OJS journals, ensuring that published manuscripts are safely archived and preserved across multiple redundant global nodes.

  • LOCKSS System (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): The PKP PN operates on the LOCKSS architecture, creating a decentralized and distributed digital archiving system among participating libraries and server nodes. This system guarantees:

    1. Seamless Perpetual Access: In the unlikely event that a journal’s main hosting platform experiences permanent downtime or ceases operations, the authentic, original versions of all published articles can be restored and accessed immediately through the network.

    2. Content Authenticity: Continual algorithmic integrity checks ensure that archived copies remain authentic, unaltered, and free from corruption over time.

2. Institutional & National Repository Archiving

In addition to distributed global digital networks, Universitas Islam Darussalam (UID) Ciamis actively archives published content across several institutional and national digital databases:

  • UID Institutional Repository: All published journal issues and articles are deposited in the official digital repository of Universitas Islam Darussalam (UID) Ciamis for institutional archiving and internal data backups.

  • National Repositories & Indexes: All published metadata and full-text PDFs are harvested and archived by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology / Ministry of Religious Affairs repositories, including Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital), Indonesia OneSearch (IOS), Moraref, and SINTA.

  • DOI Resolution and Crossref: All published articles are registered with permanent Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) via Crossref, ensuring persistent web linking and robust citation tracking even if underlying URL structures migrate.

3. Author Self-Archiving Policy (Green Open Access)

Authors publishing with UID Ciamis journals retain the right to self-archive and deposit all versions of their manuscripts in institutional, subject-based, or non-commercial repositories:

  • Pre-print Version: Authors may archive the submitted draft before peer review.

  • Post-print Version (Accepted Author Manuscript / AAM): Authors may archive the peer-reviewed, accepted version.

  • Published Version (Version of Record / VoR): Authors are fully permitted and encouraged to deposit the final published PDF version of record on their personal websites, institutional repositories, and academic social networks (such as ResearchGate, Academia.edu, Mendeley, and ORCID).

  • Citation Requirement: In all self-archiving activities, authors must provide appropriate acknowledgment and a direct DOI link back to the original publication on the journal's official OJS website.
